Dining with a View in Samui

A great selection of the world’s best cuisine in Samui

So you’ve got settled into your luxury villa on Koh Samui, and maybe you’ve got some supplies to nibble on, but you can’t be on the island without sampling some of the cracking restaurants on offer.

Since Samui’s rise as a world tourist destination, the choices have become endless, with everything from street food to Michelin star fine dining on your doorstep.
In this installment, a few tips on where to head for a top feed, and soak in some spectacular views at the same time.

Chaweng & Lamai

No stay in Samui would be complete without trying one or both of the stars nestled on the hill between Chaweng and Lamai, Dr. Frogs Bar & Grill and The Cliff Bar & Grill.

At Dr. Frogs, you can expect a chilled breezy vibe, and sample Italian or Thai cuisine, regularly rated excellently, whilst looking down north onto Chaweng Bay; an ideal sunset.

Just down the road at The Cliff, the stunning views extend in a more southerly direction, looking at some dramatic rock formations in the bay, and the Portuguese, Mediterranean inspired menu offers some excellent sundown fare.

Bophut / Fisherman’s Village

If you’re chilling up in Bophut Fisherman’s Village, head to Barracuda at The Wharf, watch the sun drift down over the boat-filled bay, and tuck in to some seafood from the frequently changing, small and exciting menu.

Lipa Noi

The south west of the island, although a fair trek, hosts the best sunsets on the island, and is quickly becoming the hot destination for high end resorts to lay their foundations.

Great beach side views in a luxury setting can be enjoyed at the young and trendy Nikki Beach Club in Lipa Noi.
Look out towards the Angthong Marine Park, and feast on the modern, eclectic menu along with some chilled wine.

Taling Ngam

If you’re not feeling so young and trendy, head  to The Intercontinental in Taling Ngam for some fine dining, washed down with one of the best sunset cocktails (from renowned Thailand based mixologist J.Boroski) at Air Bar.

Also in Taling Ngam, The Five Islands Resort has been popular for a long time for those seeking a romantic getaway meal.
Sweeping views across to the Five Islands, along with some sensational European and Asian fare, make for a stunning dining experience.
